One Christmas Eve at
Evergreen Mall
The Heartwarming Holiday Hug Grand Cane Didn’t Know It Needed
Let’s be honest: by the time December rolls around, most of us are one fruitcake away from a full-blown meltdown. The shopping’s not done, the lights are tangled, and Aunt Linda is already asking if you’re “still single.”
So here’s your official permission slip to escape it all for two glorious hours and land smack in the middle of the coziest, funniest, most big-hearted Christmas play you’ll see this year: One Christmas Eve at Evergreen Mall, coming to BackAlley Theatre in Grand Cane for five performances only—December 6, 12, & 13 at 7:00 pm and December 7 & 14 at 2:00 pm.
Picture the scene: it’s December 24th, the mall is a zoo, the clock is ticking, and absolutely everyone is having the kind of day that only happens in holiday movies. Eight little stories weave in and out of each other like twinkly lights on the perfect tree. You’ve got:
A mall Santa who’s secretly nursing a broken heart (and maybe falling for the elf who keeps stealing his cookies)
An overzealous security guard who takes “mall cop” to Broadway levels of drama
Two brainy teenage misfits who bond over comic books and accidentally save Christmas
A pair of cranky actors mid-fight during a mall production of A Christmas Carol (yes, there is onstage Scrooge-on-Scrooge violence—tiny, hilarious, and totally PG)
A college freshman home on break who learns that growing up doesn’t mean growing apart
Newlyweds facing their first Christmas together with zero budget and maximum love
And a dozen more moments that will make you laugh so hard your hot chocolate comes out your nose, then tear up two minutes later because—dang it—someone just said exactly the right thing at exactly the right time.
This play is pure holiday magic wrapped in tinsel and tied with a bow made of belly laughs. It’s the theatrical equivalent of finding an extra present under the tree you didn’t know was there. Kids love the silliness and the surprise cameo from a very important reindeer (no spoilers!). Grown-ups love that it reminds us—without ever getting sappy or preachy—that the best gifts don’t come from Amazon.
Bring your grumpy uncle. Bring your teenager who claims to hate everything. Bring Grandma who’s seen every Christmas show since radio was invented. By the time the lights come up, they’ll all be holding hands, humming “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” and plotting to come back the next weekend with the neighbors.
Six chances. One cozy little theater. Zero bah-humbugs allowed.
Grab your tickets now at backalleygrandcane.com before they vanish faster than the last roll of wrapping paper on December 23rd.
One Christmas Eve at Evergreen Mall isn’t just a play—it’s the dose of joy, laughter, and genuine holiday spirit Grand Cane deserves this December.
See you at the mall. (The one with the heart bigger than its food court.) 🎄❤️
